You’ve got my deepest appreciation for being a member of Crosscut. You see, Crosscut has been out in front of many important stories that made a big impact on the Northwest. But it’s also had many smaller impacts — for instance, fanning the flames of my marriage.

Yup.

And I'm not afraid or embarrassed to admit it.

When you've been married to someone for a long time, you go through phases: the honeymoon phase, the house renovation phase, the baby and toddler phase. Occasionally, you run out of things to talk about. Enter Crosscut.

Since I became a Crosscutter, Crosscut articles have pumped new life into our dinner and bedtime conversations. We debate exciting topics sparked by the talented and insightful pool of writers, and argue the issues they bring to the fore.

Inspired by articles from Knute Berger, Roger Downey and Alice Kaderlan, we talk about: Should developers really be able to block Space Needle views? Are we really going to enjoy our meal if we go to this super-LOUD trendy restaurant? Can we go back to this ballet before it closes? I didn't pay enough attention to the lighting design.

I could go on, but I won’t. Instead I’ll ask other devoted Crosscut fans like you to help Crosscut fan the flames. We need great arts and government coverage, and intrepid reporters following controversial issues. But most importantly, we need the superb reporting Crosscut provides. My marriage and sanity depends on it! If that’s not human impact, I don’t know what is.

So please renew your Crosscut membership today.

We have a generous donor who is offering to match the first 25 renewing members at the $100 level. The match is for this week only — so please act now!

Take a moment to call us at 206-382-6137, email us at membership@crosscut.com, download a form for mail-in membership or click here to pay online. Thank you.
