Sunday night two gunmen opened fire on a security officer outside a contest to draw cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad outside Dallas, Texas. One security guard was injured in the leg before the two gunmen were killed in a confrontation with police. Though NPR reports the city is unable to confirm if the shooting was directly in response to the contest, but the assumption is that is was since depicting the Prophet Muhammad is considered offensive in the Islamic tradition.
