Washington is the third most expensive state to buy a home after Hawaii and California, according to a Seattle Times report. Prices are growing almost twice as fast as the national average. Though Seattle and King County are the hottest areas of the state, and contain the most houses total, almost everywhere in the state is seeing steep increase in pricing. The only place this hasn't been true is the Wenatchee area, which saw a slight decrease in housing prices.

Yakima has banned pit bulls for almost 30 years, and in a sad day for would-be reformers of this rule, the council voted today not to move discussion of the issue to the city’s Public Safety Committee, the Yakima Herald reports. Opponents of the city-wide ban say that if pit bulls are dangerous, it's the fault of human owners, not the breed itself. They also point out that there is no such thing as a pit bull breed, and it’s hard to tell if a dog is a pit bull.

Seattle officers will soon vote on the contract.
