This past October on a flight back from the Big Apple, I sat next to a couple who had just seen The Book of Mormon, a musical comedy by the creators of South Park, that’s won many accolades since its Broadway premiere in 2011. My flight companions had loved it, convincing me to see it too.
Lucky for me and you, Book of Mormon is coming back to Seattle by popular demand. It will play downtown at the Paramount Theater for two weeks, from December 29 through January 10, 2016.
If you’re not familiar with the story, Crosscut explained why even the organization it satirizes, i.e., the Church of Latter Day Saints, liked it, when the show first came to Seattle in 2013. Berit Anderson writes, “Book, for all its cheeky satire, is the best PR Mormon church leaders are likely to see — and they know it.” But, fear not, church membership is not required for admission or to understand the play’s humor. It's art for all adults.
