KUOW highlights a rehab program in Fall City, reSTART Life LLC, that helps participants overcome ... video game addiction. The rehab facility caters to men ages 18-28, and models itself in part on the 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous program. Stays at the facility range from three weeks to three months: No computers, cell phones or video game consoles. Instead, outdoor activities are encouraged.
The American Psychological Association doesn't recognize addiction to gaming as a disorder, so the facility isn't covered by any insurance plan. A typical stay usually costs upward of $25,000. The APA has one page in its manual for "internet gaming disorder" saying it recommends further study.
So, what about women gamers?
