Cascade PBS announced today that Vivian Phillips has joined its board of directors.
A lifelong Seattleite, Phillips has been a leading light of the Seattle arts and culture community for decades. She is the president of ARTE NOIR, which she founded in 2021 to “create space, stability, opportunity, and training to serve the needs of the displaced Black creative community.” Phillips served as the chair and a member of the Seattle Arts Commission from 2012-2018, and led marketing and communications for Seattle Theatre Group from 2011-2017. She was also chair and a member of the 4Culture board from 2019-2021.
Phillips is no stranger to making media. With former KUOW arts reporter Marcie Sillman, she hosted the local arts podcast, DoubleXposure. Phillips also produced the online arts channel SGTtv for several years.
“Vivian’s advocacy for Seattle creative voices is unparalleled,” said Cascade Public Media President and CEO Rob Dunlop. “We’re confident her wisdom as a communicator, educator and thought leader will help us deliver on the promise to serve audiences in ways that are engaging and illuminating.”
