From March 20th to the 22nd, the City of Seattle held its first transportation hackathon called 'Hack the Commute.' Members of the community were invited to use data analysis and computing skills to answer the question, "Can the tech savvy public ease our transportation frustration?"

The winning idea, announced Wednesday, is a sort of Google Maps app for people in wheelchairs, in which users can mark hills, obstacles and accessible sidewalks. The four person team, Hackcessible, won a Kindle and free cloud computing.

Don't forget, Crosscut's Community Idea Lab will tackle solutions to Seattle's transportation headaches. Keep your eyes out for details. .
