Reid said his decision was not driven by the injuries he sustained during a New Year's Day fall or by his demotion to minority leader. "I want to be able to go out at the top of my game," said Reid, 75, who has served five terms in the Senator.</p><p>The pundits are already debating Reid's effectiveness, not to mention the impact of his withdrawal on the Dem's chances to retake the Senate in 2016.
