The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2016 and will also ban the sale, purchase or use of electronic cigarettes or other tobacco products for those under the age of 21. Most states have minimum legal age of 18. Alabama, Alaska, New Jersey and Utah have raised the minimum age to 19. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson <a href="http://www.thenewstribune.com/2015/02/16/3642277_tougher-tobacco-regulations-will.html?rh=1&ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">has called </a>for raising the minimum purchase age here to 21.</p>
