Never one to waste a good news peg, Hillary Clinton delivered the first major policy address of her second presidential bid on Wednesday. The topic? Crime and major changes to the criminal-justice system. "Yet again the family of a young black man is grieving," said Hillary, referencing the death last week of Baltimore's Freddie Gray. "Yet again a community is reeling, its fault lines laid bare and its bonds of trust and respect frayed."
At a Columbia University forum on urban issues, writes Bloomberg, "Clinton spoke forcefully about how 'we have allowed our criminal justice system to get out of balance'" and offered proposals for police body cams, ending "the era of mass incarceration" and moving "mental health back on the top of our national agenda."
And while we're on the subject of women and crime, don't miss today's Crosscut's profile of Sue Rahr, whose innovative training methods are putting Washington State in the forefront of police reform.
