Computer monitors, tires, dead batteries, magazines: Until recently, you could find these items and more scattered across the Stottlemeyer Trailhead, located in Kitsap County. During a recent clean-up effort, volunteers cleared out six dump trucks and almost 200 tires, reports King 5. The trailhead's a bit safer and environmentally healthy now, but the property's main owner, Pope Resources, says it's an ongoing problem. That's why they've posted five cameras in trees. Efforts like these are helping, but they're not long-term solutions — three of the cameras have since been stolen.
Serveral orgaizations have stepped up to help out, including Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, North Kitsap Trails Association, Great Peninsula Conservancy, Kitsap Audubon, Kitsap County Parks, Back Country Horsemen.
