Around 1 p.m. Seattle Fire Department first tweeted that two patients were treated at the Madison Street McDonald’s restaurant on First Hill after being pepper sprayed in the eye. One patient was transported to Harborview. They also treated a cat. KIRO 7 reports that a man walked into the restaurant with his service cat, which was on a leash. He was told he couldn’t be there because in the past he had caused trouble, according to a witness interviewed by police. After an argument with an employee, the cat owner was pepper-sprayed. It’s unclear who pepper-sprayed the cat and its owner. As a result of the incident, Madison was closed for a time westbound at Minor Avenue.
