Undecided continues to lead the 2013 race to be Seattle mayor, but the current mayor, Mike McGinn, is close on his or her heels. A new SurveyUSA poll conducted for KING 5 News shows 22 percent of Seattle voters would return McGinn to office compared with 23 percent who remain undecided (the primary will be held in August). The number of undecideds in a March poll was 34 percent so Seattleites are beginning to take sides as Tim Burgess, who dropped out of the race on Friday, no doubt was seeing. One insider observed that at a similar point in previous mayoral elections Paul Schell was at 27 percent and Greg Nickels at 26 percent. "It's hard to see how undecided voters break for a well-known incumbent. This field is very different than the field Nickels had."SurveyUSA asked 552 registered voters over the weekend who they would vote for if the election were held today:
- McGinn: 22 percent
- Peter Steinbrueck: 17 percent
- Ed Murray: 15 percent
- Bruce Harrell: 12 percent
- Kate Martin and Charlie Staadecker: 4 percent
- Mary Martin: 3 percent.
The margin of error is ± 4.3 percent.
