Apparently, he just had a few other things going on. Senator-cum-mayoral-candidate Ed Murray (D-Seattle, but you already knew that) made the most of the two-week break between the end of the regular legislative session on May and the beginning of this week's special session: He raised $103,693 for his mayoral campaign. The figure puts him behind only Bruce Harrell in total funds raised so far. That's impressive since, unlike the other candidates who've had months to beat the bushes, Murray's had only 23 days, according to his campaign. State law prohibits legislators from fundraising while the legislature is in session.Murray and his colleagues went back to work today for the special session called by the Governor to get a budget passed. While the special session prevents Murray from raising any more money until it's over — if it ever is — it might nonetheless be a chance for him to build up another kind of capital, say, coming out swinging on transportation?
