The Pike Place Market Foundation is less than $300,000 away from a $2 million fundraising goal for its new “MarketFront” project, which will transform a parking lot on Western Avenue into a waterfront expansion of the market. The refashioned parking lot will provide a great view, more room for farmers and artists to set up shop and housing for low-income seniors. For the first time in 30 years, donors have the opportunity to write their name into a piggy hoofprint, which will be placed into the new MarketFront (along the lines of the names in the flooring of the main market). You can learn more about the project and donate at PikeUp.org; the fundraiser ends Dec. 31. — T.W.
