It's customary for the Legislature to pass a supplemental budget, making minor changes the year after a biennial budget is approved. Senate Republicans suggest it might not be necessary this year.

In the year after approving a two-year state budget, the Legislature typically comes back and makes minor changes by passing a supplemental budget. But Republicans in the Senate are toying with the idea of forgoing a supplemental budget this year — and perhaps sending some political messages.
