It's Electoral College day, in case you somehow missed it.

Talk about your anticlimax. Barack Obama can'ꀙt assume the presidency on January 20 unless something happens throughout the country today — and the media is reacting with a giant collective yawn.

It's the Monday after the second Wednesday of December. And that means — ta-da — the quadrennial meeting of the Electoral College will be called to order in every state capitol at noon today. The Associated Press notes this Constitutionally-mandated event taking place in Olympia with a riveting story totaling 73 words.

It'ꀙs not just the mainstream media. Even minutiae-obsessed political reporters are giving the EC a pass. Not a story to be seen early Monday in two online hubs of punditry, Politio or Real Clear Politics. The Wall Street Journal does run a column today on how to get rid of the hoary institution.
