Things got so bad in Baltimore on Saturday night that baseball fans attending the Orioles-Red Sox game were asked to remain inside Camden Yards,  USA Today reports. Protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned violent, with demonstrators throwing cans and bottles at police officer, breaking store windows and vandalizing police cruisers.

Fans were eventually allowed to leave the stadium after the game ended (in the 10th inning).

Freddie Gray died on April 19th from an unexplained spinal cord injury while in police custody. His funeral was held Monday. NPR reports that his family and other public officials are calling for peace. "We must not allow an already tragic situation to tear our community apart," Sen.Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., said in a statement.
