Lindsay Holladay of the Seattle Aquarium will go on an expedition to explore the Pacific and its undersea environment off the West Coast. She’s joining 16 other educators and 22 students from around the United States and Australia who were accepted to join the expedition led by Dr. Robert Ballard, the man who found the wreckage of the Titanic. Ballard's Ocean Exploration Trust, a nonprofit that focuses on ocean exploration and promoting STEM education, selected the winners. As part of the trip aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus, which leaves Victoria, British Columbia, on Wednesday, participants will explore the Cascadia Margin, a geologically active area along the tectonic plates on the boundaries of the Northwest, and an undersea shipwreck.
The Seattle Aquarium will host a live, interactive program with Holladay about the expedition at 10:30 a.m. on June 8 — World Oceans Day. You can follow the expedition here.
