Home prices in Seattle are among the fastest-rising in the nation, according to the latest data from the Standard &amp; Poor’s/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index. While that's good for current owners, the 7.5 percent price increase over the past 12 months puts home ownership further out of reach of many local citizens, given they are rising faster than wages. The Seattle Times <a href="http://www.seattletimes.com/business/case-shiller/?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">reports</a> that the last time prices were at their current level was immediately before the recession hit, and Washington Mutual folded.</p>
