Democratic Representative Jim McDermott this year introduced a bill to allow recipients of federal student loans to refinance their loans and even discharge them in bankruptcy. This past weekend Washington State Democrats passed a resolution supporting the bill, which is still in committee.
And for anyone feeling the need to constantly gripe about their student debt, but also wanting to retain their existing relationships, you now have an outlet. McDermott is asking for submissions for his 'Wall of Debt' a website presenting the stories and experiences of people with student loans. That's right, United States Congress is asking you to complain, you might even say it's your civic duty.
