Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders pretty much blew out the doors at KeyArena, drawing a crowd that left thousands outside. Although the event was free, organizers had asked for people to RSVP to get an idea of what to expect. KOMO reports that about 10,000 got inside with another 5,500 outside and perhaps 1,500 giving up when they couldn't get in. The Seattle Times suggests that there may have been a misunderstanding spread among later-arriving attendees that the arena was full: The Key holds more than 17,000 people — which should have been just about right. Still quite a showing.
Sanders returned the love, telling the crowd, "We have to do nationally what Seattle has already done — raise minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour."
