It looks like Congress will renew the Export Import Bank, a big financier of Boeing jet sales overseas. Multiple news sources say a deal reached in Congress for highway funding also envisions reauthorization of the bank. As Joel Connelly of seattlepi.com notes, the bank also helps numerous businesses here sell their products abroad, so much so that Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have held a series of events across the state featuring companies helped by the bank. Murray cautions that the deal isn't done yet, but Connelly says that she credits small businesses for making their voices heard in the face of Tea Party-oriented attempts to kill the bank.
