If KUOW successfully purchases rival NPR affiliate KPLU, chances are it would kill off KPLU's jazz streaming service Jazz24, according to public media news site Current.org. In emails obtained by Current, KUOW general manager Caryn Mathes determined there was "no sound business vision" for the streaming service, calling its approach "upside down."

That isn't necessarily a surprise: KUOW recently announced its own jazz streaming service, Planet Jazz.

Comment sections are rarely a place to find meaningful additions to a story, but KPLU Director of Content Matt Martinez weighs in on Mathes' assertions. Be sure to check it out.
