In Seattle, those flashing lights in the rear-view mirror may soon be on an unfamiliar vehicle. The Seattle Police Department has begun replacing its fleet of Crown Vics – an iconic cop car – with Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicles, a crossover model that, according to The Seattle Times, gets slightly better mileage and has lower maintenance costs. Each Interceptor will cost the city $47,500, fully loaded for police work.
