Officer Adley Shepherd is facing the potential end of his 11-year career with the Seattle Police Department over the punching of a handcuffed, intoxicated woman during an arrest in 2014, The Seattle Times reports. Labor rules dictate Shepherd be given a chance to appeal his termination, and he will receive that chance in a meeting with Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole.

Shepherd has been on paid leave since shortly after the 2014 incident. The Seattle Police Officers Guild told the Times that the recommendation to fire Shepherd was an example of overreach by the Office of Professional Accountability and the argument for his removal would be "dismantled" when O'Toole gives Shepherd a hearing.
