The Seattle School Board will meet late this afternoon to decide whether to authorize legal action if teachers strike. The Seattle Times says the board could authorize Superintendent Larry Nyland to seek an injunction to order teachers back to work if no agreement is reached and the Seattle Education Association members strike. Classes are scheduled to start on Wednesday but the district has already advised parents to have child care arrangements in place. Pasco teachers voted Monday to defy a judge's order to go to work today, according to the Tri-City Herald; the judge had withheld any sanctions when he issued the back-to-work order last week but said he might impose penalties if the teachers failed to obey the order.
