NPR reports that the past few weeks have seen the various Syrian rebel groups making gains against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. A spokesman for one of the rebel groups cites increased cooperation among the main countries backing the rebels, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, has contributed to a unification of the rebels themselves. The article suggests Syrian patriotism may be slipping away, leaving al-Assad less equipped to continue fighting the rebels.
