Seattle is one of a dozen U.S. cities where Al Jazeera America is launching bureaus in what the conservative <a href="http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/30/al-jazeera-america-announces-12-new-bureaus-corres/?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">Washington Times calls</a> "a massive expansion." The <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/al-jazeera-america-adds-regional-correspondents-to-12-bureaus_b189856?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">overall list of hires</a> is impressive, as well. Al Jazeera has had rough spots, including <a href="http://gulfnews.com/news/region/egypt/al-jazeera-staff-resign-after-biased-egypt-coverage-1.1206924?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">a recent walkout by staff </a>in Egypt who complained they'd been told to promote the Muslim Brotherhood's position. But the network's news operations have generally earned considerable respect among journalists.</p>
