            <p>Four days without the Viaduct? OMG. At 10 p.m. on next Friday, Aug. 22 — a truly dark hour — the <a href="http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/News/2014/08/15_SR99-closures.htm?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">Washington State Department of Transportation</a> plans to shut down our favorite elevated highway between South Spokane Street and Valley Street. <em>In both directions. For four days.</em> The section of 99 south of the Battery Street Tunnel will open back up for Monday, Aug. 25’s morning commute; BUT the tunnel itself and the stretch north to Valley Street will be off limits until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. “We need Seattle commuters to plan ahead for this closure,” said Dave Sowers, WSDOT’s deputy administrator for the Viaduct Replacement Program. Like, yeah! Here’s our plan: Stay home. — M.B.</p>
