The Save Animals Facing Extinction campaign says that 348,627 people have signed Initiative 1401. The initiative would strengthen penalties for trafficking products made from 10 endangered "iconic species" including sea turtles, tigers, and pangolins. Paul Allen, Vulcan, Woodland Park Zoo and quite a crowd of Washingtonians are behind the stricter regulations. Assuming all goes well with the verification of signatures, I-1401 will be on the ballot in November.
