Governor Inslee has signed House Bill 1879, sponsored by Rep. Ruth Kagi, into law. The bill, according to the press release, will provide youth in foster care with better access to mental health by combining behavioral and physical health care into a single plan. HB 1879 also places more safeguards on the prescribing of antipsychotics to young people, requiring a second psychiatrist's opinion before a prescription can be made.
