In January, North Quinault Properties LLC filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Quinault Indian Nation, questioning the tribe’s ownership of Lake Quinault. The Olympian reports that U.S District Judge Ronald Leighton has dismissed the case, ruling that the Quinault Nation has sovereign immunity. Fawn Sharp, the president of the Quinault Nation, said the Lake Quinault is indisputably within the reservation and is sacred to the tribe.
