            <p>Lest we look down too much at what we might like to think of as the less-effective Washington back East, it pays to read <em>The News Tribune's </em>Peter Callaghan on state politics. Latest case in point:<a href="http://www.thenewstribune.com/2012/12/27/2415450/lawmakers-inslee-ignoring-high.html?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org"> Callaghan's column today</a> on the response by the state Legislature and Gov.-elect Jay Inslee to the state Supreme Court's McCleary decision requiring better funding of the state's public schools.He writes that two things are clear:1. The court is serious about meeting the requirements of the constitution.2. State legislators and the governor-elect are not.</p>
