Lest we look down too much at what we might like to think of as the less-effective Washington back East, it pays to read The News Tribune's Peter Callaghan on state politics. Latest case in point: Callaghan's column today on the response by the state Legislature and Gov.-elect Jay Inslee to the state Supreme Court's McCleary decision requiring better funding of the state's public schools. He writes that two things are clear:1. The court is serious about meeting the requirements of the constitution.2. State legislators and the governor-elect are not.
