            <p>Opening arguments began today in the trial of Christopher Monfort, the man is accused of the 2009 shooting death of Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton. KOMO Radio reported that a deputy prosecutor asserted that he stalked Brenton. <a href="http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2015/01/trial-begins-for-man-accused-of-killing-spd-officer-timothy-brenton/?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">The Seattle Times said</a> the prosecution's opening statement took about an hour, outlining the case that Monfort had deliberately targeted police officers over allegations of brutality.  He is also charged with trying to kill three other officers in two separate incidents, one a firebombing of police vehicles.
