Two new measles cases have been confirmed by Public Health-Seattle & King County. Two out-of-state visitors appear to have brought the disease with them and visited several public locations in Kirkland, Mercer Island and Seattle on July 9 and 10; which are listed on the county public health website. This outbreak is unrelated to a previous case involving Sea-Tac Airport. The health department is also investigating a rabies-infected bat, found on the shores of Madison Park's public beach on Monday afternoon, and King County health officials are urging anyone who may have had any contact with the sick animal to contact them for treatment information. The officials are worried about children and pets that may have approached the bat.
