Blaming the Legislature's budget standoff, Gov. Jay Inslee today canceled a trip to (get ready) Paris. The guv was supposed to take a 52-member delegation to the Paris Air Show, but Congressman Rick Larsen will lead the group instead. Inslee will miss scheduled meetings with Boeing executives and top corporate officials from more than two dozen companies. Meaning that the political games in Olympia have gotten in the way of building the state's aerospace future. Of course, you can view these trips as junkets. But as Steve Wilhelm at Puget Sound Business Journal was quick to point out, Gov. Chris Gregoire made a regular point of attending the Paris show, a premier event for the industry. With Boeing treating the state ever more shabbily, Washington ought to be making all the international connections it can.
