            <p>The recent backlash against the Confederate flag won’t end centuries of American racism all on its own, but it is a step in the right direction. In a strange act of retaliation, far-right pundits are now calling for a ban of the gay pride flag. According to Breitbart editor John Nolte, the flag casts a shadow of “<a href="http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/23/take-down-the-fascist-anti-christian-gay-pride-flag/?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">hate, oppression, and bigotry</a>” wherever it flies. Nolte is somehow <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiibClEZ6Fo&ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">not alone</a> in his stance, and he’s not above comparing gay people to Nazis. On the other side, Dan Savage  <a href="http://www.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/2015/06/24/22444378/religious-right-demands-that-the-pride-flag-be-taken-down?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">argues</a> that the comparison between the pride flag and the Confederate flag is hypocritical and tone-deaf with regard to both sexuality and race. Somehow we don't think these arguments will sway the Confederate flag fans making these comparisons.</p>
