Weyerhaeuser will move its headquarters from Federal Way to Pioneer Square in Seattle, according to The Seattle Times. Mayor Ed Murray's office had earlier withheld any hint of what company he might be welcoming when he announced a 5:30 p.m. press conference today to "comment on a major company’s decision to move to Pioneer Square." But Murray held off giving any hint about the company's identity. The company will move in 2016 when a new seven-story building is completed in on a former parking lot adjacent to Occidental Park. The Times also pointed out that Weyerhaeuser has been downsizing — which helps explain how a major company can move into the crowded Square. (The location of the new headquarters has been corrected since the story first appeared.)
