The MSTI degree will be the first U.S.-based program as part of the so called “Global Innovation Exchange,” which connects nonprofits and social service agencies around the world.</p><p>Students in the program will be prepared for jobs involving mobile and wearable computer, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_objects?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">smart objects</a>, and the “Internet of Things.” According to <a href="https://www.wantedanalytics.com/analysis/posts/hiring-for-the-internet-of-things-skyrockets?ref=dev.cascadepbs.org">Wanted Analytics</a>, hiring demand in the Internet of Things field has increased by 322 percent in the past two years.</p><p>Students in the program will have the option to earn an “Engineering in Information Technology” degree from Tsinghua University during their time at UW. The university will admit its first cohort of students into the program in 2017.</p>
